Summary/General Description of Job:

Provides electrical engineering support in the design, construction, and maintenance, for all current and potential facilities on site. Leads and prepares design criteria documents, calculations, drawings and specifications for electrical systems; including power distribution, standby power, lighting, communications, fire alarm, security and various other special systems. Manages electrical design process and orchestrates the planning, design, cost estimating, and phased scheduling for projects. Assesses feasibility and completeness of proposed engineering tests, products, equipment, projects, and designs. Provides engineering support for both preventative and corrective maintenance as well as trouble analysis.

Essential Duties & Job Functions:

  • Perform electrical planning, design work and cost estimations for new construction, renovation, and improvement projects for a variety of real property facilities

    o Primary deliverables include scopes of work, specifications documents, and cost estimates for future projects

  • Utilize a professional knowledge of electrical theory, standard engineering theory and techniques, and Army/DOD codes and regulations to perform requirement determinations, technical assistance, and conventional design work

  • Ability to work independently, or with minimal supervision, relying heavily on prior professional experience and knowledge of local and state regulations. Ensures the highest standards are achieved and maintained in terms of safety, environmental performance, quality, and efficiency and makes recommendations for improvement when necessary

  • Participate in design reviews and provide written assessments of third-party designs

  • Support electrical projects during construction, including coordinating answers to Requests for Information, Change Orders, and solving problems that arise in the field. Serves as consulting engineer for electrical related design aspects of assigned projects. Provides professional consultations on a broad range of difficult electrical engineering issues and problems, and advice to requesting organizations

  • Assist in determining requirements, assembling requirements document, attending RFP/Design charrettes and the RFP/Design processes

  • Engage Engineering Support personnel for CADD and GIS support while developing products

  • Promote sustainable design and development principles (LEED) in professional activities

  • Adhere to Wolf Creek Federal Services (WCFSI) information policies, directives, standard operating procedures, and the company safety program

  • Serve as electrical engineer of record for design documents and reports covering electrical systems

  • Performs other related duties as assigned

  • Keeping up-to-date and knowledgeable of applicable industry regulations and compliance requirements

  • Knowledge of applicable government regulations or guidelines

  • Keeping certifications and training current for any required and/or refresher training

  • Developing policy, procedures, operating guidance and/or training as required

  • Use of common office equipment including, copiers, fax machines, and computers

  • Communicating effectively, orally and in writing, including the ability to make presentations to senior team and client management

  • Completing all mandated training requirements per government and management directives

  • Timely and cost-effective performance of duties

  • Timely completion and accuracy of all departmental work with minimal supervision

  • Adherence to established company safety policies and good industrial and office safety practices

  • Compliance with company standard operating procedures and personnel policies and procedures

  • Effectively coordinating a number of projects simultaneously

  • Demonstrating the ability to work well under pressure

Mandatory

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited university program

  • Minimum of one year of applicable/relevant electrical engineering experience

  • Skill in the use of Adobe Acrobat Standard/Pro, MS Office Word, Excel, and Outlook at an intermediate level

  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, reports, and submittals

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance at the Secret level within 6 months of employment

  • Capable and willing to provide occasional engineering support in the field under all environmental conditions

  • Valid state of Alaska driver’s license with acceptable driving record (if not an Alaska resident, willingness to obtain an Alaska driver’s license)

  • Ability to successfully pass any background checks and/or drug testing required on the contract

  • Fluent in oral and written English language

  • U.S. Citizenship

Preferred

  • Experience working on a Government Contract or on a Government Facility

  • Familiar with U.S. Army procedures, programs, methods, regulations and resources

  • Knowledge of the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007 and its application with regard to electrical requirements for facilities and distribution systems

  • Registered as a Professional Engineer

  • Proficiency in Bently Microstation, Autodesk AutoCAD, MS Powerpoint, MS Visio, and Adobe FrameMaker
